Frydenbø Industri was established in 1925, the name then was Damsgaard Motorfabrik. In 1971 the firm became a limited company, and changed the name to SABB Motor AS. In October 2006 the company was bought by Frydenbø Industri AS, and changed name to Frydenbø Sabb Motor AS. From 2015 the company is now called Frydenbø Industri AS.

Over the years Frydenbø Industri & Sabb Motor has enjoyed a healthy turnover and steady growth. Today the company employs aprox. 100 persons with a high level of knowledge, expertise and experience. Frydenbø Industri operates now as a total supplier of diesel engines, gensets and equipment, and co-ordinates service-workshops for repair and maintenance world-wide. The company's head office has a central location at the seaside, at Frydenbø Marina in Bergen along the Norwegian west coast. With easy access to deepwater harbour and modern testing- and measuring facilities. FrydenbøI ndustri also have regional locations in Oslo, Ålesund , and Øksfjord - and a net of agents and service points world wide.

Some of the worlds leading diesel engine manufacturers supplies Frydenbø Industri, with a choice of quality engines from Sabb (inhouse), Iveco Motors/ FPT,Beta Marine, Deutz, ABC, AGCO Sisu Power and Baudouin.Frydenbø Industri also manufactures their own line of hydraulic gears.
